Staff from RCT Homes and its charity Meadow Prospect raised almost £100 for a cancer charity in a couple of hours this week, enough to spur Bernadette Jones on her marathon challenge!
Members of RCT Homes’ ICT team along with staff from its charity Meadow Prospect spent their evenings baking cakes this week for a fundraising bake sale at RCT Homes office in Pontypridd. The charity effort was to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Bernadette Jones, who is a Business Mentor at Meadow Prospect will be running the Edinburgh marathon this month to raise funds for the cancer charity. She organised the bake sale to help her towards her target of raising £750 for Macmillan Cancer Support, the charity which provides practical, medical and financial support to those with cancer and push for better cancer care.
Bernadette, who ran the Brighton marathon in April for Macmillan, said: “RCT Homes staff have a history of enjoying fundraising, and cake eating so I knew this would be a perfect combination! People donated whatever they wanted for each cake and I am so pleased that we have raised £96 for such a good cause. Every cake was sold on the day and it was a great team effort.
“I know RCT Homes and Macmillan Cancer Support will be behind me when I attempt the Edinburgh marathon this month and this great start to the fundraising has motivated me to do well.”
