Rhondda People shines a spotlight on the great things to see and do in the Rhondda covering news, lifestyle, sport and more.
Having launched in January 2014, so far we’ve reported on fantastic school performances, inspirational fundraising drives, brilliant local events and everything in between.
We run this community news project as a group of volunteers who love our local area and want to shout about it. Rhondda People is for you, and about you. But we need your help.
Send us your news, events and reviews and reach an audience of over 1,000 local people. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to share your stories, or even join the team (we’re a friendly bunch!).
Rhondda People is supported by Cardiff University’s Centre for Community Journalism in partnership with National Theatre Wales, following their Treorchy residency in October 2013. The initiative is also supported by Cardiff University’s Engagement Projects. Leighton Andrews AM has encouraged the launch of the project in his role as Honourary Professor of Journalism and in support of a community project in his constituency.
Thank you to Dafydd Williams who volunteered his time in creating the logo and branding for Rhondda People. You can view Dafydd’s work here. Thank you also to Kim Haddrell who volunteered her time creating leaflets for the project.
Leighton Andrews’ researcher Kirsty Keenan created the original Rhondda People website and will continue to offer technical support.
